Review - Isabella Oliver 365

Regular readers will know that we have just the one Small Child and that we made up our minds a long time ago not to have anymore.

My one regret about that? That I didn't discover Isabella Oliver maternity clothes until after she was born! As I gradually drifted out of baby la-la land and got my fashion mojo back, I became aware of their ad's in InStyle magazine. Why didn't I drape my bump in such beautiful swathes of sophistication? The gorgeous garments laid before me only served to induce a shudder at the memory of some of the maternity clothes that I wore. Personally I blame it on the hormones.

Fast forward four years and I read that Isabella Oliver 365 has been launched, for the non-bump sporting ladies amongst us. A gorgeous collection of stylish, comfortable and effortless pieces that can be dressed up or down. And you know that I'm all about trying to be stylish and effortless these days!

So... to say I was over the moon to be asked to review an item from their Autumn Winter 2009-10 range would be a slight understatement! Yes dear neighbours... that was me whooping and dancing around the room last week. The hardest part about it was choosing a piece....it's all stunning.

I was torn between this Hepburn Tunic ......

... or the (very Mad Men) Sexy Pencil Skirt .

In the end I opted for the snuggly looking Cocoon Dress! It was a cold day when I was going through the selection that had been emailed to me so it was a no brainer.

A day later, my parcel arrived via the Fed Ex man who apparently delivers our Nespresso coffee order. I didn't realise this until after the "Ah.. it's the Coffee House lady... this isn't coffee is it?" conversation took place! No it's not coffee... it's much more exciting than that!

You know what I'm like for parcels and the whole packaging thing...

... well this didn't disappoint!

But enough with the wrapping and onto the dress - it more than surpassed my expectations. It's made of a beautiful soft grey jersey that fits and flatters in all the right places. I'm no Skinny Minnie, but with the tie belt that you can tighten as much as you like around the waist, in this dress I have to say... I feel fabulous. And the sleeves! They satisfy my personal obsession about having them almost down to my fingers. Which, as I read the other day elongates the arms and is therefore very flattering... so there!

So to the pictures. I needed some help from my girl to help relax me into the photography bit. Her shouting "Work, work it.. own it own it" helped tremendously....

You should have seen the look on the neighbours face as she pulled onto the drive with me and SC goofing around....Other Half had decreed that the best light was to be had at the front of the house - who am I to argue with his genius?

I think I came over a bit starry in the end hence the shades and posing but I'm putting it down to the company I'm keeping these days. Isabella Oliver has after all, been worn by Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani, Heidi Klum, Naomi Watts and Jennifer Lopez to name but a few. Not that I'm name dropping or anything! I love, love, love this dress and by the time some of you read this, I'll be wearing it on a long planned Christmas shopping trip with my lovely friend J.

Glancing through the catalogue later on I also noticed that they also have some long sleeved T's listed as a hero item.... now is this, or is this not fate given my quest?

I am so jealous as I love grey but it drains me. I am with you on the packaging too. I love some effort in mail order makes the whole experience much nicer. Let me know how it washes xxx

I love the tan tunic top---so Twiggy!! What a difference maternity clothes are from when we look back at our moms. Wow! They looks like they were wearing moo-moo's, poor things. I always wonder, does anyone know if Topshop's maternity wear is any good (not that I'm anywhere near the stage of having a baby). I was just curious....... Anyway doll, you look tres chic and I am so jealous you were sent something from that fab brand. Love the sleeves. WORK IT!

Love the dress....unfortunately I expect it's out of my price range now.
I lived in their maternity clothes, even a full length dress for two balls whilst 9+ months pregnant. Love their range.
It looks great on you by the way. ;0)

Oh wow! I want the entire range. You look really glam, not sure I could pull the look off, but would give it a try. Do you think it would suit my new fab pink hairdo and reputation for hanging out with male models?!!

YM - thanks! The clothes are gorgeous aren't they? and I hope soon you'll be living in them again! xx

Lady Mama - Thank you! It's such a lovely dress to wear... comfort is big on the horizon at the moment... its a winter thing I think!

Wildernesschic - Cool.. how exciting! I have so much grey in my wardrobe!! I keep meaning to go for other colours but always end up with some shade of it. Glad it's not just me thats packaging obsessed-I think it's an important part of the experience! And I was told the dress can be washed at 30 degrees which I do most of our stuff on now so I'll let you know xx

One of 365 - I thought of Twiggy when I saw that top and nearly went for it. I would've worn it with leggings but think I would have been worried that my butt would be on display! Haven't heard of anyone thats bought Topshop maternity.. loads more shops do it now than when I was pregnant! And it was the sleeves that drew me to the dress... Im such a sleeve woman! xx

Pontecarlo Shoegal - You see... great minds think alike! I checked out what you bought on your blog... Gorgeous!! I remember seeing that coat on LLG's blog.. I bet you look fab in it! Love the dress too - you cant beat a wrap dress. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in Spring!

MM - Thank you lovely! To have the words come from you means a lot! Would highly recommend IO 365 to anyone x

Small Fabric - That drape dress you have is so clever and gorgeous! Any clothes that multitask are a winner in my book!

Perfectly Happy Mum - Thank you, thank you, thank you!! And the dress thanks you too!

Looking fab - Its lovely isn't it - I think you should buy it! Have you shopped lately? It's time! x

Chic Mama - Thank you! The quality of their clothing is brilliant.. I was very impressed. And being a Chic Mama, I would have expected noting less from you whilst you were pregnant!

Rosie - I think its a must for the new image (and male model company you're keeping these days!). Of course you can pull it off! xx

I'm a one&done-r too, and there is so much that I say "oh, but it would be so nice if I could wear/eat/do that with another one". But no way am I having another baby just so I can wear that tunic!

New Fave Thing - Thank you! And your blog is my new fave thing after that wardrobe post!

Lora - One&done-r... like it! But you don't need to be preggers to wear the tunic... 365 is for no bump ladies so go right ahead and buy!
